आई नावातच संपूर्ण ब्रह्मांड…

सोहळा मातृत्वाचा.. मायेचा

आई म्हणजे सहवास, आई म्हणजे नाव, गाव, आई म्हणजे आयुष्याची शिदोरी… इतर वेळी आई हा विषय आपण आपल्या सर्वसामान्य जगण्यात इतका गृहित धरलेला असतो की, त्याची वेगळी अशी दखलही आपल्याला घ्यावी वाटत नाही. अर्थात हे निरिक्षण सर्वांनाच लागू पडते असे नाही. आपल्या आईने आपल्यासाठी केलेल्या त्यागाची, कष्टाची, नि:स्वार्थी प्रेमाची आपण आपल्या उभ्या आयुष्यात कधीच परतफेड करु शकणार नाही. मात्र तरीही तिने आपल्याला दिलेल्या ह्या सुंदर आयुष्याबद्दल तिचे आभार मानण्याचा दिवस म्हणजे मातृदिन (Mother’s Day).
मातृत्वदिन साजरा करण्याची पहिली सुरुवात अमेरिकेतून झाली. अमेरिकन ऍक्टिविस्ट ऍना जार्विस (Anna Jarvis) यांचं आपल्या आईवर प्रचंड प्रेम होतं. त्यांनी स्वतः लग्न केलं नव्हतं. ती सदैव आपल्या आईसोबतच राहात असे. जिवलग आईचा मृत्यू झाल्यावर ऍक्टिविस्ट ऍना जार्विस हिने आईच्या स्मृतिप्रित्यार्थ मातृदिन साजरा करण्यास सुरुवात केली. त्यानंतर हळूहळू अनेक देशांमध्ये मातृदिन साजरा करण्यात येऊ लागला.
जगभरात साजरे केले जाणारे विविध दिवस हे विशिष्ठ तारखेला असतात. पण, मदर्स डेचे वैशिष्ट्य असे की, हा दिवस साजरा करण्यासाठी कोणतीच तारीख कधीही नक्की ठरलेली नसते. १० मे १९१४ अमेरिकेचे राष्ट्राध्यक्ष वुड्रो विल्सन यांनी एक कायदा पास केला होता. ज्यामध्ये असं लिहिण्यात आलं होतं की, मे महिनाच्या दुसऱ्या रविवारी मातृदिन साजरा करण्यात येईल. तेव्हापासून भारत आणि इतर देशांमध्ये मे महिन्याच्या दुसऱ्या रविवारी मातृदिन साजरा केला जाऊ लागला.

प्रत्येक जन मातृदिन वेगवेगळ्या पद्धतीने साजरा करतात. तसं बघालयला गेलं तर आईवरील प्रेम व्यक्त करण्यासाठी एखाद्या खास दिवसाची गरज नसते. पण मातृदिनाच्या दिवशी आईवरील प्रेम व्यक्त करण्याचा खास दिवस असतो. यावेळी काही लोक आर्थिक रुपात, वस्तू रुपात किंवा कामात मदत करुन आईवरी आपले प्रेम व्यक्त करतात.
आज ०९ मे २०२१ अर्थात मातृदिन. आजच्या दिवशी फक्त आई विषयी प्रेम व्यक्त केलं जातं पण मला वाटतं की मातृदिन साजरा करण्यासाठी एकदिवस पुरेसा नाही. आपण ठरवलं तर प्रत्येक दिवस मातृदिन म्हणून साजरा करू शकतो. प्रत्येकाच्या आयुष्यात आईच मातृत्वाची भूमिका पार पाडत असते असे नाही. आई आपल्यावर जितकं अतोणात प्रेम करते तसेच आपली आजीदेखील आपल्यावर जीव ओवाळून टाकत असते. आजचा दिवस आहे त्या माऊलीसाठी जी तिचं संपुर्ण आयुष्य आपल्या लेकरांसाठी वेचत असते. आईचं प्रेम आपल्याला आजी, मावशी, आत्या, मामी, बहिण या रूपातून देखील मिळत असतं.
आपल्या या सुंदर आयुष्याचं अस्तित्व आईच्या गर्भातून चालू होतं. ९ महिन्यांपर्यंत आपल्या बाळाला ती तिचं रक्त देऊन पोसत असते, त्याचा भार पोटातून वाहत असते. या काळात कितीतरी शारीरिक बदल तिच्यात घडत असतात परंतु आपल्या बाळासाठी ती माऊली सर्व काही हसत हसत सहन करते. बाळाच्या जन्मावेळी होणाऱ्या असह्य वेदनांचा तुम्ही आम्ही विचार ही करू शकत नाही, बाळाला जन्म देताना आईचा ही तो दुसरा जन्म असतो. कळी उमलून जसं तिचं फुल होतं त्याप्रमाणे आई जीवन रूपी वेलीवर एक नविन जीवाला जन्म देऊन ती वेल बहरून टाकते.

पण तूम्ही कधी अनुभवलय का की बालपणी जसं आपण सतत आईच्या पदराआड लपत असतो, मोठे झाल्यावर हळू हळू आपणच त्या पदराच्या सवलीपासून लांब जातो. कधी तरी पुन्हा आईच्या त्या पदराची सावली जाणवून बघा, तिच्या कुशीत जाऊन बघा, तुम्ही कितीही मोठे झालात ना तरी आईसाठी तूम्ही कायम तिचं लहान बाळचं राहणार. या ठिकाणी दोन ओळी व्यक्त करू इच्छिते.
” बालपण पुन्हा जगण्याची हौस आई तू पूर्ण केलीस,
कुशीत घेऊन तुझ्या मला माझ्या तारुण्याची भुल पाडलीस “
आईची ती माया, तिचं निःस्वार्थ प्रेम शब्दातून कधीचं व्यक्त होणार नाही. आई हे देवाचं दुसरं रूप, जणू देवाचं दिलेलं वरदान. पण गेल्या वर्षभरात जगावर थैमान घालत असलेल्या महामारीच्या प्रसंगात कित्येक मुलांकडून हे वरदान देवानं हिरावून घेतलं, कित्येक आईंनी त्यांची मुलं गमावली, त्यांच्यासाठी आजचा हा खास दिवस नक्कीच खास नसणार. आई जरी जवळ नसली तरी तिचं अस्तित्व तिची माया आशीर्वाद रूपाने कायम आपल्या सोबत असते. आजच्या या दिवशी आई सोबत च वंदन करुया त्या वडिलांच्या मातृत्वाला ज्यांनी आईविना पोरक्या झालेल्या मुलांना आईचं ही प्रेम दिलं. घराची जबाबदारी सांभाळताना मुलांची आई होऊन त्यांना वात्सल्य दिलं. वंदन करुया त्या बहिणीला जिने आई नसताना आपल्या लहान भावंडांना आई होऊन सांभाळलं. आई ही केवळ जन्म देणारी माऊलीच असेल असे नाही, आपल्यावर प्रेम करणारी, काळजी घेणारी, आपल्याला समजून घेणारी आपली आजी, मावशी, आत्या, मामी, बहिण असू शकते. आई होण्यासाठी बाळाला जन्म देणं गरजेचं नाही. गरज आहे आपल्यातील मातृत्वाची जाणीव करुन घेण्याची, ती जाणीव जपण्याची.

Mother is companionship, mother is a name, mother is the secret of life… Many times we take our mother for granted in our day to day life and we don’t even bother to notice about it. Of course, this observation doesn’t apply to everyone. We will never be able to repay the sacrifices hard work selfless love that our mother has given us in her entire life. But still Mother’s Day is the day to thank her for this beautiful life that she has given us.
Mother’s day was first celebrated in the United States. Jarvis an American activist, loved her mother very much. She was unmarried and live with her mother. After the death of her beloved mother, Anna Jarvis began celebrating Mother’s day in her mother’s memory gradually mother’s day was celebrated in many countries.
Many such days are celebrated on specific dates around the world. But the feature of mother’s day is that no date has ever been fixed for this day. On May 10, 1914, US President Woodrow Wilson passed a law in which it was written that Mother’s Day will be celebrated on the second Sunday of May in India and other countries. Everyone celebrates Mother’s Day differently. However, we don’t need a special day to express our love for mother but, Mother’s Day is a special day to express our gratitude and love for her. Many people express their love by giving gifts, surprises or by helping her at work.
Today is May 09, 2021, second Sunday of May i.e. Mother’s Day. Today love is expressed only for Mother, but I think one day isn’t enough to celebrate Mother’s Day. If we decide, we can celebrate everyday as Mother’s Day. It is not only the mother who plays the role of motherhood in everyone’s life. Just as mother loves us dearly, so does our grandmother loves us unconditionally. Today is the special day for the lady who sacrifices her whole life for the sake of her children. We also get mother’s love in the form of grandmother, aunt, and sister.
The existence of our beautiful life starts from the mother’s womb. She feeds her baby within herself for 9 months. During pregnancy she goes under many physical changes but she endures them all with a smile on her face only for her baby. We can’t even think about the unbearable pain she suffers during the birth of a baby, while giving birth to a child a mother gets a new life as well. As the bud blossoms and becomes a flower, the mother gives birth to a new life on the vine of life and makes the vine bloom.
But have you ever experienced that as a child we used to constantly hide behind the mother’s veil, but as we grow older gradually we move away from the warmth of that veil. Try to feel that warmth again, go hug your mom and see the unconditional love she has for you. No matter how old you grow, you’ll always be her little munchkin. I wish to add two lines to express this feeling.
” Oh, Mother you fulfilled my desire to live my childhood once again,
You made me forgot my youth(age) by embracing me in your arms “.
Mother’s selfless love will never be expressed in words. Mother is another form of God, she’s like a gift from God. But God took away this gift from many children’s in the wake of pandemic that has affected the world from the past year, many mother’s lost their children, this mother’s day will not be special for them. Even if your mother is not with you, her love and existence will be their in the form of blessings. On this day, we admire many father’s who gave unconditional love to their children who were orphaned without mother. While looking after all the responsibilities, they became mother of the children and gave them warmth, affection and love. Let’s admire the sisters who took care of their siblings and gave them selfless love by being the second mother of their siblings. The mother is not the only one who gives birth to a child, she can be your grandmother, your aunt or your sister who loves you, protects you, cares about you and above all understands you. You don’t have to give birth to a baby for being a mother. Instead, one need to be aware of the motherhood that resides within us.
